Job Description
Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students in both elementary and middle school special education classrooms. This contract position offers the chance to work alongside dedicated professionals, making a meaningful impact on students’ lives.
In the elementary setting, you’ll work with a close-knit group of six students. While the class is supported by a Teaching Assistant and a Behavior Technician, some students will need toileting assistance. The classroom environment is positive, structured, and collaborative, with a focus on helping every child thrive.
For the middle school group, you’ll be engaged with eleven students. One student has a feeding tube, while the others experience no significant behavioral needs but may require toileting support. The classroom team here includes another dedicated teacher, three full-time Teaching Assistants, and a 1:1 support professional to provide individualized attention.
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teaching certification
- Experience working in both elementary and middle school settings preferred
- Comfort assisting with toileting and providing support to students with significant needs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to maintain a caring and structured learning environment
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Delivering engaging instruction adapted to a variety of learning needs
- Supporting students with personal care in a respectful and compassionate manner
- Working closely with classroom assistants and related service providers
- Fostering a nurturing, inclusive atmosphere for all students
- Maintaining thorough documentation and regular communication with families
