Responsibilities

Draw blood specimens from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established procedures for clinical and forensic collections.

Prepare specimens for lab testing, ensuring proper labeling and documentation to maintain sample integrity and chain of custody.

Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient signatures post-venipuncture to confirm specimen labeling accuracy.

Maintain accurate records and documentation of procedures performed, adhering to confidentiality and compliance standards.

Create a trusting environment by explaining procedures clearly and ensuring patient comfort and safety during blood collection.

Support a safe and professional environment by following safety protocols and policies, including infection control and safety practices.

Perform venipuncture in various settings, such as patient service centers, doctor’s offices, or mobile collection sites, as needed.

Handle multiple priorities efficiently in a high-volume setting, demonstrating organization and professionalism at all times.

Required Skills

Proven proficiency in phlebotomy, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.

Excellent customer service and communication skills for interacting with diverse patients and healthcare team members.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in specimen labeling and documentation.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, managing multiple responsibilities efficiently.

Physical ability to perform blood draws, including standing for extended periods and handling equipment.

Additional Skills & Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.

Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.

Experience working in a Patient Service Center environment is preferred.

Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed across multiple locations.

Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record if applicable.
