Position Overview

The role involves assessing and implementing medically prescribed physical therapy treatment plans aimed at addressing movement dysfunction and alleviating pain caused by injuries, illnesses, disabilities, or other health-related issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and ongoing evaluations of patients' conditions.
• Develop, modify, and assess a care plan tailored to the identified issues, engaging both patients and their families in the process.
• Administer therapy interventions using standard physical therapy techniques suitable for the patient's condition.
• Educate patients, families, and staff by identifying educational needs.
• Ensure continuity of care by participating in discharge planning, providing home instructions, recommending necessary equipment or modifications, and suggesting follow-up care as needed.
• Supervise the activities of physical therapy assistants, students, and other support staff.
• Maintain accurate documentation reflecting the patient's response to therapy and the necessity for skilled intervention as mandated by regulatory standards.
• Work with a constant focus on safety and alertness.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

QualificationsEducation

A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy or a related field is required to obtain licensure in the state of practice.

Experience

No prior experience is necessary.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand.
• Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing between 0-25 lbs.
• Engage in frequent oral communication, utilizing hearing and speech.
• Regularly distinguish body sounds and detect alarms or malfunctioning equipment through hearing.
• Utilize vision for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances frequently.
• Engage in frequent walking, reaching, gripping, and data entry.
• Occasionally bend, stoop, climb, kneel, sit, squat, twist, and perform repetitive movements with feet, legs, hands, and arms.
• Occasionally lift or move patients and objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
• Occasionally drive and use vision to assess distances and spatial relationships.
• Rarely crawl.

Licensure and Certifications

• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification is required within 90 days of employment. Additional resuscitation certifications may be necessary based on departmental needs.
• Licensure as a Physical Therapist is required in the respective state of practice, including Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin.
