Position Type: Contract / Travel
Shift: Day Shift (6:30 AM 3:00 PM) | 40 Hours/Week
Schedule: 5 Days/Week (8-hour shifts); weekend rotation as needed; floating to local facilities may be required
Contract Dates: August 10, 2026 October 24, 2026 (~11 Weeks)
Job SummaryPerforms routine and complex diagnostic procedures requiring technical skill, independent judgment, and decision-making following established standards and laboratory protocols. Handles phlebotomy and specimen accessioning duties as needed, operates instrumentation, and supports technical and administrative functions in a fast-paced clinical setting.
Key ResponsibilitiesLaboratory Testing: Perform diagnostic procedures, quality control (QC), and proficiency testing in Core Lab and Microbiology. Verify specimen integrity, interpret data, and take appropriate action.
Instrumentation & Maintenance: Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot lab equipment. Document QC and preventive maintenance (PM) in compliance with CAP standards.
Laboratory Information Systems: Utilize both Cerner and EPIC LIS for test ordering, receiving, result verification, and pending list management.
Phlebotomy & Accessioning: Perform direct patient phlebotomy and specimen intake as department volume requires.
Compliance & Safety: Maintain strict confidentiality (HIPAA), adhere to medical necessity/billing compliance, and maintain a safe, biohazard-controlled work environment.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, or B.S. with equivalent prerequisite coursework and clinical training.
Certification: ASCP, AMT, or NCA registry as an MT, MLS, or MLT (Required).
Microbiology Experience: Minimum 3 years of active Microbiology experience (Required).
LIS Systems: Demonstrated proficiency in both Cerner and EPIC (Required).
Core Skills: Strong background in Core Lab operations and direct patient phlebotomy.
Standing, walking, sitting, bending, and stooping; ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs.
Manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, corrected visual acuity, and normal color perception.
Exposure to biohazardous materials, infectious diseases, and bloodborne pathogens common to clinical laboratories.
