Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Santa Clara, California

Step into an impactful position supporting students with visual impairments, serving a diverse school community near Santa Clara, CA. In this rewarding, onsite contract role, you’ll empower learners by tailoring instruction and resources so every student accesses their full potential. The assignment runs from August 13th through June 11th, following the academic calendar with full-time hours Monday through Friday.

Desired Qualifications:

• Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential authorizing Visual Impairments OR California teaching credential with authorization to teach visually impaired students (EL CLAD)
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Demonstrated ability to adapt instruction and materials for students with visual impairments
• Collaborative mindset for working with multidisciplinary school teams
• Strong communication skills with students, staff, and families

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and support for students with visual impairments in multiple grade levels
• Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) for visually impaired students
• Adapt classroom materials, assessments, and learning environments for accessible engagement
• Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and specialists to integrate modifications and accommodations
• Consult with families to support learning goals beyond the classroom and advocate for necessary resources
• Monitor progress, collect data, and actively participate in IEP meetings
• Offer staff training and resource recommendations to promote school-wide inclusivity
