Fleet Equipment Superintendent

Insight Global
Odessa, TX, US Full Time

Job Description

Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Regional Fleet Superintendent for a top fleet and heavy equipment client. This individual will serve as a hands-on leader responsible for overseeing field maintenance operations across a regional territory. This is not a high-level manager role—this person will be actively engaged in the field, supporting mechanics, troubleshooting equipment issues, and ensuring repairs are completed efficiently and correctly.
The Regional Fleet Superintendent will act as a key liaison between operations and maintenance, translating direction from leadership into execution for field mechanics while maintaining accountability across all repairs and vendor activity. This individual must be confident in their mechanical expertise, able to challenge third-party vendors, and make critical decisions around equipment repair, replacement, and lifecycle. This role is essential in driving uptime, maintaining safety and compliance, and ensuring the fleet operates efficiently across all active locations.
Day-to-Day:
• Act as the Regional Fleet Superintendent, supporting all field and shop operations across assigned territory
• Lead and coordinate daily work of field mechanics, including assignments, priorities, and repair timelines
• Serve as the liaison between operators, general foreman, and mechanics, ensuring clear communication
• Review equipment issues and determine next steps (repair, replace, escalate, or retire)
• Provide hands-on support with diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs when needed
• Monitor equipment condition, downtime, and fleet readiness across sites and yards
• Ensure all work is completed safely, correctly, and in a timely manner
• Coordinate and manage 3rd party vendors, ensuring quality, timelines, and cost control
• Challenge vendors when work is incorrect, unnecessary, or overpriced
• Review, approve, and dispute invoices when needed
• Address DOT deficiencies, inspections, and compliance issues
• Track equipment, repairs, and workload using basic systems and reporting tools
• Travel between job sites, yards, and vendors to inspect work and support field operations
