Job Description
Step into a rewarding role supporting students with specialized needs in a full-time, contract position running from August 3 through May 21, 2027. This opportunity is based at a high school near Phoenix, AZ, and focuses on self-contained behavior classrooms, serving students with autism and those requiring structured intensive support.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Holds a current Arizona Secondary Teaching License, a valid K-12 Special Education Certificate, and an IVP Fingerprint Card
- Prior experience working directly with students with emotional disabilities and/or other eligibility areas, particularly those who have challenges with prosocial behavior and self-regulation
- Demonstrates sensitivity to and understanding of diverse student populations, including at-risk, ethnic, English language learners, and exceptional students
- Skilled in designing and executing special education programs and producing appropriate documentation in line with federal, state, and district regulations
- Completion of Essential Elements of Effective Instruction (E.E.E.I.) training, or willingness to participate in professional development
- Experience or familiarity with self-contained, behavior-focused classrooms preferred
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and behavioral supports to students within a self-contained classroom environment
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs according to regulatory and best practice standards
- Collaborate with families, colleagues, and support staff to address students’ prosocial and self-regulatory needs
- Foster an inclusive classroom atmosphere tailored to diverse learners
- Participate proactively in staff development and contribute to ongoing school initiatives
