Teacher of Visually Impaired - San Jose, CA

You'll work collaboratively with school staff to deliver specialized instruction and accessible educational materials tailored to students' unique needs.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential authorizing Visual Impairments, or
• California teaching credential with authorization to teach visually handicapped students (EL CLAD)
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Strong knowledge of braille, assistive technology, and instructional techniques for visually impaired students
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Commitment to onsite work (this role is not open to virtual or hybrid arrangements)
• Previous experience with school-aged children, especially within special education, is highly preferred

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver individualized instruction aligned with IEP goals for students with visual impairments
• Assess students' progress and adapt strategies to maximize their learning potential
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure a supportive learning environment
• Provide orientation and mobility support, as needed, to help students navigate their school environment
• Prepare accessible learning materials, including braille and large print resources
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to student progress documentation
• Serve as a resource for staff regarding best practices in visual impairment education

This full-time, onsite contract begins August 13 and runs through June 11, working 37.5 hours a week near San Jose, CA.
