Project Manager
Job Description
The Project Manager will support the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) on the FAST contract. This role provides senior-level project management support for complex, enterprise-level initiatives. The resource will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating project activities, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, and stakeholder management across cross-functional teams. This role ensures successful delivery of projects by maintaining alignment with DPS objectives, governance standards, and established project management methodologies.
\nResponsibilities:

- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, resources, risk, and communication components. \n
- Define project objectives, deliverables, milestones, and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders. \n
- Coordinate cross-functional teams, vendors, and business units to ensure alignment and execution of project activities. \n
- Monitor project performance, track progress against milestones, and ensure timely escalation and resolution of issues and risks. \n
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement, meetings, and status reporting to ensure clear communication and transparency. \n
- Manage project scope changes through formal change control processes and ensure governance compliance. \n
- Oversee vendor performance and deliverables when external contractors are involved. \n
- Ensure adherence to DPS policies, state procurement requirements, and FAST contract guidelines. \n
- Support project documentation, reporting, and administrative requirements throughout the project lifecycle. \n
- Drive project closure activities, including final reporting, deliverable acceptance, and lessons learned documentation. \n
\nRequirements \n
Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must meet all minimum qualifications.
\n- \n
- 8 years of experience managing large-scale, complex IT or business transformation projects in a structured environment. \n
- 8 years of experience demonstrating strong knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., PMI/PMBOK, Agile, Hybrid). \n
- 8 years of experience developing and maintaining project schedules, budgets, and resource plans. \n
- 8 years of experience demonstrating proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders across technical and business units. \n
- 8 years of experience with risk management, issue tracking, and change control processes. \n
- 8 years of experience demonstrating strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level reporting. \n
- 8 years of experience using project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, or similar). \n
- 8 years of experience ensuring compliance with organizational governance, policies, and procurement requirements. \n
Preferred Qualifications:
\n- \n
- 1 year of experience working in public sector or state government environments, preferably within public safety or law enforcement agencies. \n
- 1 year of experience managing projects under state procurement frameworks (e.g., FAST, DIR, or similar contracts). \n
- 1 year of experience with PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent. \n
- 1 year of experience managing IT system implementations, data systems, or enterprise applications. \n
Additional Requirements:

- Local candidates only; Must live within 50 miles of the Austin, Texas work location. \n
- Candidate must be available for on-site work for up to four days per week at TXDPS HQ in Austin, TX. \n
- Candidate may be required to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Work Location and Schedule:

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding State holidays when the agency is closed.
Work Arrangement: Hybrid - On-Site and Telework
