Job Description

Role: Welder (night shift)

Location: Bastrop, TX (priority for Texas candidates as candidates will need to pass onsite Weld Test)

\n

Employment Type: Contract to Hire (6 months contract to hire)

\n

Compensation: $30/hr straight time, per diem available for days worked (4 days/week) if traveling in

\n

Hours: 4 days, 10 hours

\n

Shift: 6:30pm - 5am

\n

Mon - Thurs

\n

OR

\n

Thurs - Sunday

\n

Day to Day Responsibilities:

    \n
  • Daily checkin with leads for assignment; receive work orders via the production dashboard.
  • \n
  • Review job/drawing, confirm parts, scan parts to badge (or coordinate with lead for scanning).
  • \n
  • Perform part fitup and welding per drawings and specifications (A572 majority).
  • \n
  • Apply required preheat for materials like A514, execute welds, follow controlled cooling procedures.
  • \n
  • Prepare welds to inspector standards; inspector will evaluate prep AND performed welds (visual + PT as needed).
  • \n
  • Identify and escalate drawing issues or part discrepancies to lead/IE for redlining.
  • \n
  • Maintain housekeeping and adhere to site safety protocols (electrical awareness, fire watch, working in outdoor/dirty environments when required).
  • \n
  • Potentially assist with scanning/parts retrieval process while trained on internal dashboard workflows.
  • \n

Requirements:

\n
    \n
  • Core materials experience (priority in this order): \n
      \n
    • A572 (primary — ~90% of work),
    • \n
    • A514 (requires preheat and controlled slow cooling),
    • \n
    • 10gauge,
    • \n
    • occasional bronze and aluminum.
    • \n
  • \n
  • Stainless experience (303/304/316) beneficial;
  • \n
  • Flux Cored (FCAW)
  • \n
  • Experience with heavy equipment/rigging, fitting up, rolled parts/forgings is highly valued.
  • \n
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints/schematics and weld symbols. Ability to identify and mark errors on drawings (create redlines).
  • \n
  • Familiarity with part handling and scanning workflows (badge scanning parts from shelf).
  • \n
  • Knowledge of preheat requirements and post-weld cooling procedures (specifically for A514).
  • \n
  • Willingness/ability to perform prep work to inspector standards.
  • \n
  • Safety awareness for potentially oily/dirty outdoor work and energized electrical hazards; capable of following fire watch and site safety procedures.
  • \n
  • PPE and basic personal tools required from candidate; company provides major welding equipment.
