Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and managing patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed. This role involves evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, as well as explaining procedures and necessary education upon discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments, including operating various ventilatory equipment.
\n
• Administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation to patients using various devices.
\n
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal).
\n
• Monitor and evaluate patients through oximetry and capnography according to policy.
\n
• Review patient's chest x-rays to assess need for further evaluation.
\n
• Assist with procedures related to respiratory care, including bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.
\n
• Provide tracheostomy care, including the insertion and removal of tubes, both emergently and non-emergently.
\n
• Perform arterial puncture and monitor oxygenation and ventilation efficiency.
\n
• Ensure compliance with laboratory testing policies and procedures.
\n
• Carry out cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) following BLS and ACLS guidelines.
\n
• Maintain accurate records of treatments and patient responses, communicating effectively with healthcare team members.
\n
• Facilitate preventive maintenance and repair of respiratory equipment.
\n

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Valid respiratory therapy licensure required. Experience in a clinical setting preferred, with familiarity in operating respiratory care equipment and patient evaluation practices.
