Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory

Location: Naples, Florida

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and patient-focused Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. The RN will provide comprehensive nursing care before, during, and after invasive cardiovascular procedures while collaborating closely with cardiologists, physicians, technologists, and the interdisciplinary care team.

This position requires excellent critical thinking, strong clinical judgment, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced procedural environment. Candidates with previous Cath Lab experience are preferred; however, experienced nurses from ICU, CVICU, or Emergency Department (ED) backgrounds with strong critical care experience are also encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure nursing care for patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures.

  • Prepare patients for cardiac catheterization procedures, including assessment, education, and informed consent verification.

  • Monitor cardiac rhythms, hemodynamic status, and patient condition throughout procedures.

  • Administer medications, moderate sedation (where applicable), and emergency interventions according to departmental protocols.

  • Assist physicians during diagnostic cardiac catheterizations, coronary interventions, structural heart procedures, and electrophysiology procedures.

  • Recognize and respond rapidly to procedural complications and cardiac emergencies.

  • Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).

  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and quality standards.

  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, technologists, and the multidisciplinary cardiovascular team.

  • Participate in department quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.

  • Participate in the required rotating on-call schedule, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

Required

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Florida (or eligibility for Florida licensure).

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification or ability to obtain within the employer's required timeframe.

  • Experience in one or more of the following:

    • Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (preferred)

    • Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

    • Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)

    • Emergency Department (ED)

  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR).

Preferred

  • Previous Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory experience.

  • Experience assisting with:

    • Diagnostic Cardiac Catheterization

    • Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI)

    • Angioplasty

    • Coronary Stent Placement

    • Structural Heart Procedures (TAVR, Watchman, MitraClip, etc.)

    • Electrophysiology procedures

  • Knowledge of cardiac medications and hemodynamic monitoring.

  • Experience with conscious/moderate sedation.

Schedule

  • Full-Time

  • Day Shift

  • Four (4) 10-hour shifts per week

  • Rotating weekday, overnight, weekend, and holiday call required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods during procedures.

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and assist with patient transfers.

  • Ability to respond quickly during emergency situations.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced procedural environment.

Compensation

Compensation is determined according to NCH's established RN compensation grid based on verified years of relevant nursing experience. Compensation follows a standardized pay structure and is non-negotiable.
