Make a significant difference in students’ lives by providing vital support as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired. This part-time, itinerant contract opportunity is ideal for an educator dedicated to empowering students from elementary through middle school levels. The assignment is onsite and will allow you to offer direct support within a network of schools near Aurora, IL.

In this role, you’ll provide specialized instruction and advocacy for students with visual impairments, ensuring access to a quality education and adapting materials and methods to meet each learner’s unique needs. Collaborate closely with school staff, families, and other specialists to promote an inclusive environment and foster student independence.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a TVI endorsement
  • Experience working with students with visual impairments in a school setting
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to travel between assigned campuses as needed
  • Proactive, flexible approach to supporting students and staff

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction tailored to students’ individual educational programs
  • Assess students’ functional vision and learning environments
  • Adapt curriculum materials and instructional strategies for accessibility
  • Consult and collaborate with educational teams to support inclusion
  • Provide training and resources for staff and families as needed
  • Maintain documentation and comply with school and state requirements
