A Saw Operator is responsible for accurately cutting materials to specified dimensions using various saws, ensuring quality and safety in the production process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate saws: Adjust blades, guides, and stops according to blueprints or work orders to achieve precise cuts of metal
  • Material preparation: Position, secure, and mark materials before cutting, ensuring proper alignment and measurement
  • Quality inspection: Use calipers, micrometers, or other measurement tools to verify that finished pieces meet specifications
  • Maintenance: Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and blade replacement to maintain saw performance and safety
  • Documentation: Record production output, complete administrative paperwork, and track workflow using ERP or similar systems
  • Safety compliance: Follow all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a clean, organized work area
  • Technical skills: Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and shop diagrams; knowledge of different saw types and their capabilities
  • Precision and attention to detail: Ensuring accurate cuts and high-quality finished products
  • Mechanical aptitude: Ability to troubleshoot minor machine issues and perform basic maintenance
  • Mathematical skills: Basic math for measurements, tape reading, and setting machine stops

  • IL Paid Leave for All Workers
An employee that works in Illinois is entitled to accrue and use up to 40 hours of paid leave during a 12 month period or a pro rata number of hours of paid leave under the provisions of the State of Illinois Paid Leave for All Workers Act. The 12 month accrual period is considered to begin for new employees on the employees first day of employment. An employee is entitled to begin using earned and accrued paid leave time 90 calendar days after commencement of employment. Paid leave under this Act shall accrue at the rate of one hour of paid leave for every 40 hours worked up to 40 hours of paid leave
  • 401(k) with company match for eligible employees.

Eligibility: Active employees with one year of work and during that one year has completed 1,000 hours of service and is at least 21 years of age. Entry dates into the 401(k) are: 1/1 or 7/1 following the one year of service and completing 1,000 hours of work.
The company will match 100% of the first 3% of the employee contribution. As well as, match 50% of the next 2% of the employee contribution. (The company contribution/match maximum is 4%)
