Job Description
Make an immediate impact supporting students’ communication needs in a school-based, itinerant Speech-Language Pathology role. This contract opportunity is based near Alabaster, AL, and offers the chance to work across three schools to serve a diverse student population. You'll collaborate with teachers, special education teams, and families to foster student growth and success.
Key Qualifications:
- Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP).
- Valid Alabama Professional Educator SLP Certification.
- Previous experience in a K-12 school setting and/or with a caseload of 50+ students preferred.
- Ability to effectively manage an itinerant schedule across multiple locations.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in assessment, development, and implementation of IEPs.
Responsibilities:
- Serve approximately 60 students as an itinerant SLP between Shelby County High, Columbiana Middle, and Helena Intermediate.
- Provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for students with speech, language, and communication disorders.
- Develop individualized therapy plans and conduct both individual and group sessions.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and families to support academic and developmental goals.
- Complete required documentation and IEP paperwork in accordance with school and state standards.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current with evidence-based practices.
This contract role runs from August 4, 2026, to December 19, with a standard 37.5-hour workweek onsite at assigned schools. You’ll find a supportive environment where your expertise and enthusiasm help shape students’ confidence and communication skills.
