In this impactful role, you will support learners across multiple school settings as an itinerant educator, bringing specialized instruction and advocacy to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. You’ll collaborate with dedicated school teams and families, ensuring that each student has the tools and support they need to access their education fully.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement
- Experience teaching or supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in school settings
- Strong ability to modify curriculum and implement accommodations based on individual needs
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility to serve multiple school environments as an itinerant educator
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students at both a middle school and two elementary schools
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Serve as a vital resource to classroom teachers, staff, and families regarding best practices for DHH students
- Advocate for accessible learning opportunities and support inclusion in general education settings
- Maintain clear documentation on student progress and contribute to IEP meetings
