Job Description
Step into an impactful role supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a dynamic educational environment. This contract position requires a dedicated educator passionate about accessibility and inclusive instruction. The assignment runs from August 13th through June 11th, with a 37.5-hour onsite workweek, providing consistency and meaningful engagement with your students and colleagues.
Qualifications:
- California Education Specialist Instruction Credential in Deaf & Hard of Hearing OR a valid California Special Education Credential authorizing instruction for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Prior experience working with children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing is strongly preferred
- Sound knowledge of individualized education plans (IEPs) and ability to tailor instruction to diverse learning needs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to foster relationships with students, families, and school staff
As part of your responsibilities, you will:
- Deliver specialized academic instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a classroom setting
- Develop and implement IEPs tailored to individual student strengths and needs
- Employ a variety of instructional strategies, including visual language, assistive technology, and differentiated teaching methods
- Serve as an advocate and mentor, promoting student success and full participation in all aspects of school life
- Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other staff to support inclusive education
- Engage regularly in ongoing professional development focused on best practices in Deaf education
