Make a meaningful impact on student mental health by supporting schools as a Mental Health Specialist for the 2025/26 school year. Multiple contract opportunities are available at both elementary and high school levels. Work directly with general education students, providing essential social-emotional services, and collaborate with educators to create positive, supportive learning environments.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree is required; candidates with only a bachelor’s degree will not be considered
  • Must hold a current Michigan LARA license relevant to counseling or social work
  • Eligible credentials include:
    • Licensed master’s level psychologist or limited licensed master’s level psychologist (with supervision)
    • MDE credentialed master’s level school psychologist
    • Licensed master’s level social worker or school social worker
    • Limited licensed master’s level social worker (with supervision)
    • Licensed master’s level marriage and family therapist
    • Licensed master’s level or limited licensed master’s level professional counselor (with supervision if limited)
    • School Counselor License (SCL)
    • Michigan Teaching Certificate with the School Counselor (NT) endorsement
    • Preliminary or Temporary School Counselor License (with requirement to become LLPC or LPC within 24 months)

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group social-emotional support for general education students
  • Deliver in-class support or professional learning as needed throughout the school or district
  • Contribute to positive behavioral programs and initiatives within classrooms or buildings
  • Foster collaboration among students, staff, and families
