Physical Therapist - School Setting in Tavares, FL
Job Description
A fulfilling contract awaits a skilled Physical Therapist eager to make a positive impact in the school setting. In this role, you’ll provide essential therapy services to students across multiple school sites, supporting the academic and physical development of children from Pre-K through 12th grade. This is an on-site, full-time position, typically serving 2-3 schools per day in collaboration with another PT and a PTA.
You’ll be joining a supportive educational environment, known for its student-centered approach. The schedule runs from 7:30am to 4:00pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch, and your caseload will include both direct and indirect services to approximately 94 students (with another PT and PTA to help divide the workload).
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Valid Florida Physical Therapist license required
- School-based physical therapy experience preferred, but all qualified candidates will be considered
- Strong knowledge of pediatric therapy needs and IEP-driven interventions
- Comfortable working across multiple campuses (itinerant role)
- Ability to independently manage a diverse K-12 caseload, including some Pre-K students
- Detail-oriented, with excellent documentation and time management skills
- Professional communication skills to collaborate effectively with school staff, students, and families
- Candidates must be able to complete the district’s two-part onboarding for credentialing
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver physical therapy treatments and comprehensive evaluations per IEP mandates
- Develop and implement intervention plans tailored to student needs
- Maintain accurate service records and prepare progress reports
- Attend IEP and relevant school meetings as needed
- Support students, families, and educators through education and collaboration
- Travel between assigned schools during the workday
