Tax Manager
Job Description
Job Roles and Responsibilities:
Manage tax engagements from planning through completion.
Review federal and state income tax returns for:
Individuals
Partnerships
S Corporations
C Corporations
Trusts and estates
Tax-exempt organizations
Develop proactive tax planning strategies to help clients reduce tax liabilities and achieve financial goals.
Build and maintain strong client relationships through ongoing advisory support.
Serve as a year-round trusted tax advisor for clients.
Research complex tax issues and provide practical recommendations.
Respond to IRS and state tax notices and assist with tax examinations.
Delegate assignments and mentor staff accountants and senior associates.
Review workpapers and provide technical feedback to team members.
Assist with workflow management, scheduling, and department planning.
Support process improvements through technology, automation, and AI initiatives.
Stay updated on tax law changes, regulations, and industry developments.
Qualifications and Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Active CPA license required.
5+ years of recent public accounting tax experience.
Experience reviewing complex individual and business tax returns.
Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations.
Strong tax research and analytical skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven leadership, mentoring, and team development experience.
Strong organizational and project management abilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation.
Experience with CCH Axcess Tax.
Experience with CCH Engagement.
Experience with QuickBooks.
Experience preparing nonprofit organization tax returns.
