Take the next step in your career as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) supporting students in a dynamic educational environment near Waukegan, IL. This full-time, onsite contract opportunity provides the chance to make a real difference as part of the Special Education District, working with a K-12 population in need of your expertise.

Your schedule will include 35 hours each week, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Orientation for new team members is scheduled for August 12th-14th, with the assignment running throughout the 2026-2027 academic year (dates are tentative). Working primarily with a low-caseload (final grades and numbers still being determined), you'll collaborate closely with teachers and support staff to help students achieve their best.

Qualifications:

  • Active, valid Illinois COTA license (please provide with your application)
  • Experience or strong interest in working with K-12 students in a school setting
  • Ability to work effectively in a special education environment
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working onsite only

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver occupational therapy services to K-12 students in accordance with IEP goals
  • Assess student needs and participate in the development of intervention plans
  • Maintain detailed documentation and progress reports
  • Work collaboratively with special education teachers, aides, and other related service providers
  • Participate in orientation, team meetings, and ongoing professional development
