Special Education Teacher | Morganton, North Carolina

Step into a rewarding opportunity as a Special Education Teacher supporting both elementary and middle school students in a vibrant educational setting near Morganton, NC. This contract position offers the chance to make a lasting impact by empowering children who need guidance the most.

You’ll lead two well-resourced classrooms. The elementary group consists of 6 students who benefit from a positive classroom environment and require some toileting assistance, but do not have feeding needs or behavioral challenges. Your support staff includes a Teaching Assistant and a dedicated Behavior Technician, ensuring collaboration and shared success.

For the middle school classroom, you’ll guide 11 students, including one who requires care for a feeding tube and a few who need toileting assistance—again, without significant behavioral challenges. Your classroom is team-oriented, with the support of a co-teacher, three full-time Teaching Assistants, and an individual 1:1 assistant for any child who needs specialized attention.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Special Education licensure
• Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students
• Comfort providing personal care, including toileting assistance
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Compassionate, student-centered approach

Core Responsibilities:

• Design and implement IEP-driven instructional activities
• Foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment
• Provide hands-on care as needed, particularly with toileting
• Collaborate closely with teaching assistants and support staff
