Instructional Assistant - Whitehall, PA

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students with diverse and significant needs for the 2026–2027 school year. This position focuses on assisting in a Multiple Disabilities Support (MDS) Level B classroom within a specialized school program close to the Orefield and Whitehall area. As a paraprofessional, you’ll make a genuine impact every day, working with a supportive team to provide essential academic, behavioral, and personal care to students in the LCEA Program.

Ideal candidates will bring professionalism, empathy, and flexibility to meet daily challenges. You will provide individualized support, ensure classroom safety, and foster a structured, positive learning environment for students who require high levels of care and supervision.

Desired Qualifications:

• At least one year of experience as a paraprofessional, instructional assistant, or in a related school or special education setting.
• Meets at least one PA paraprofessional certification requirement (48 college credits, associate degree or higher, or state/local competency assessment). If not, must be willing to complete certification within 60 days of hire.
• Strong ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent when managing challenging behaviors and providing redirection.
• Comfortable with personal care needs, including toileting, hygiene, feeding, mobility assistance, and behavioral support.
• Resides within a 35-minute commute and can reliably travel to Orefield daily.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct support during classroom routines and transitions.
• Assist with communication, sensory, and behavioral needs.
• Support personal care, mobility, and feeding as required.
• Maintain a safe, positive learning environment according to established procedures.

This contract role runs from August 10, 2026, to June 11, 2027, working a full-time school schedule (about 32.5–35 hours weekly) with in-person interviews scheduled weekly.
