Teacher for the Visually Impaired - Naperville, Illinois
Job Description
Make a meaningful difference in students’ lives as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in an engaging part-time, onsite contract role near Naperville, IL. This itinerant position offers the chance to support elementary and middle school students and help them achieve their full educational potential. Work within a collaborative, student-centered environment while customizing instruction for learners with visual impairments across different school sites.
Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with TVI endorsement required
- Experience in delivering specialized instruction to visually impaired students, preferably across multiple grade levels
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with educational teams, students, and families
- Excellent problem-solving and adaptability
- Comfortable traveling between school sites as needed
What you’ll do:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments in elementary and middle schools
- Develop and adapt instructional materials to meet individual learning needs
- Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to IEPs and educational planning
- Empower classroom teachers with strategies and adaptations for accessibility
- Foster independence by teaching students essential skills (Braille, assistive technology, orientation and mobility collaboration, etc.)
- Maintain thorough documentation and collaborate with multidisciplinary education teams
- Build supportive relationships with students, families, and staff
