Special Education Teacher - Black Mountain, North Carolina

Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students in both elementary and middle school classroom settings, just outside the beautiful Black Mountain area. Provide personalized, skillful instruction as a Special Education Teacher in welcoming, well-supported environments dedicated to student growth.

Elementary Classroom:

• Guide and educate a small caseload of 6 students.
• Students present with mild needs; there are no significant behavioral concerns.
• Assist students with toileting as needed—no feeding support required.
• Collaborate with 1 Teaching Assistant and 1 Behavior Technician.

Middle School Classroom:

• Help facilitate learning for 11 students in an inclusive, supportive environment.
• All students display mild needs, except one individual who has a feeding tube (medical training or willingness to learn required); the rest do not require feeding support.
• Some toileting assistance responsibilities.
• Benefit from the expertise of 1 additional Teacher, 3 dedicated Full-Time Teaching Assistants, and a 1:1 support professional for a student.

Desired Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification (state-specific as required).
• Experience within elementary, middle, or combined classroom settings.
• Familiarity with toileting and a willingness to undertake personal care responsibilities.
• Compassionate communication, adaptability, and a positive approach to fostering student independence.
• Collaborative mindset to work effectively alongside classroom support staff.
