Family Solicitor (Public & Private Law) | Minimum 3 Years PQE

A well-established and highly regarded law firm in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Family Solicitor (minimum 3 years PQE) to join its growing Family Department.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated Family Solicitor with strong experience in both Public and Private Family Law, particularly Care Proceedings, Child Arrangements, Adoption matters, and Legal Aid work. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload while contributing to the ongoing growth and success of the department.

The Role

You will provide expert legal advice and representation across a broad range of family law matters, including:

• Public Law Children matters
\n
• Care Proceedings
\n
• Pre-Proceedings (PLO)
\n
• Child Arrangements cases
\n
• Adoption matters
\n
• Private Family Law matters
\n
• Legal Aid funded cases
\n
• Court advocacy and attendance at hearings
\n
• Liaising with clients, courts, counsel, experts, and external agencies
\n

The role will involve managing your own caseload from instruction through to conclusion while ensuring exceptional levels of client care and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

\n
• Conduct a full range of Public and Private Family Law matters.
\n
• Manage complex Legal Aid and privately funded cases.
\n
• Prepare legal documentation, including witness statements, court applications, and briefs to Counsel.
\n
• Represent and advise clients throughout proceedings.
\n
• Attend court hearings, conferences, and client meetings.
\n
• Submit and manage Legal Aid applications and associated funding matters.
\n
• Supervise and support junior solicitors, trainees, and support staff where appropriate.
\n
• Ensure accurate file management and compliance with regulatory requirements.
\n
• Maintain excellent client care standards, particularly when working with vulnerable clients.
\n
• Participate in networking, business development, and marketing activities.
\n

Requirements

\n
• Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 3 years PQE in Family Law.
\n
• Strong experience in Public Law Children and Care Proceedings is essential.
\n
• Solid understanding of Legal Aid processes and funding applications.
\n
• Proven ability to manage a busy and varied caseload independently.
\n
• Excellent communication and client care skills.
\n
• Experience supporting vulnerable clients and handling sensitive matters.
\n
• Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
\n
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
\n
• Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office and case management systems.
\n
• Current practising certificate with a clean regulatory record.
\n
