£30,000 - £32,000 per annum + Benefits

Due to continued expansion, our client are looking to appoint a proactive and organised Credit Controller / Accounts Assistant to join their friendly finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous credit control experience who enjoys building customer relationships whilst gaining exposure to the wider accounts function within a dynamic and growing international business.

\n

Working within a small but experienced finance team, you will take ownership of the company's credit control activities whilst supporting the day-to-day running of the finance department across both sales and purchase ledger, cash management and month-end processes.

\n

This role would suit someone with around 2-3 years' experience in a finance or accounts environment who is looking to broaden their skills and develop their career within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial organisation.

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n

As Credit Controller / Accounts Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

\n
    \n
  • Managing the end-to-end credit control process, ensuring customer accounts remain within agreed payment terms.
  • \n
  • Proactively contacting customers by telephone and email to recover outstanding debt whilst maintaining positive customer relationships.
  • \n
  • Investigating and resolving customer account queries, invoice disputes and payment issues.
  • \n
  • Allocating customer receipts and reconciling customer accounts.
  • \n
  • Producing aged debtor reports and escalating overdue accounts where appropriate.
  • \n
  • Supporting cash flow by monitoring outstanding balances and reducing debtor days.
  • \n
  • Reconciling multi-currency bank accounts (Sterling and Euro).
  • \n
  • Preparing and reporting the daily cash position.
  • \n
  • Uploading customer invoices to EDI systems and ensuring accuracy.
  • \n
  • Supporting supplier payment runs and employee expense processing.
  • \n
  • Assisting with monthly management accounts and month-end finance activities.
  • \n
  • Supporting intercompany reconciliations across international operations.
  • \n
  • Providing cover across purchase ledger and other finance functions when required.
  • \n
  • Assisting with audit preparation and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • \n
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of finance processes, controls and systems.
  • \n

Candidate Profile

\n

The successful candidate will have:

\n
    \n
  • 2-3 years' experience within a Credit Control, Accounts Assistant or Finance Assistant role.
  • \n
  • Previous experience managing customer accounts and collecting outstanding debt.
  • \n
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with the confidence to liaise with customers at all levels.
  • \n
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • \n
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including functions such as VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables.
  • \n
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively in a busy finance environment.
  • \n
  • A proactive, positive attitude with a willingness to support the wider finance team.
  • \n

Desirable Skills

\n
    \n
  • AAT qualified or currently studying towards a finance qualification.
  • \n
  • Experience working with multi-currency transactions and international operations.
  • \n
  • Familiarity with accounting systems such as Sage, SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • \n
\n
