C# / .NET Developer

Salary: £40,000 to £65,000, depending on experience

Location: Aberdeen, ideally hybrid, with flexibility depending on the candidate’s location

We are recruiting for a global software business that develops real-time data platforms for the energy industry.

The company builds complex, data-intensive products that collect, process, manage and visualise operational information from live environments. You will be working on reliable, scalable backend software involving APIs, messaging, concurrent processing and real-time data.

You will join a globally distributed development function, working within a small Agile team of around four to five developers. The role reports to a UK-based Development Manager and offers a mix of new product development and improvements to established software platforms.

The role

You will be responsible for:

\n
• Developing and maintaining backend applications using C# and .NET
\n
• Designing and supporting APIs and integration services
\n
• Working with SQL Server or PostgreSQL
\n
• Building event-driven and message-based systems
\n
• Writing clean, maintainable and well-tested code
\n
• Troubleshooting production issues
\n
• Improving system reliability, performance and scalability
\n
• Working closely with developers, testers, product managers and operations teams
\n
• Contributing to Agile delivery and DevOps processes
\n

What we are looking for

You should have commercial experience with:

\n
• C# and .NET
\n
• ASP.NET MVC or Web API
\n
• SQL Server or PostgreSQL
\n
• Unit testing
\n
• Backend application development
\n
• Debugging and production support
\n

Experience with the following would be particularly useful:

\n
• RabbitMQ, Kafka, Azure Service Bus or similar messaging technologies
\n
• Event-driven architecture
\n
• Multi-threading, concurrency or asynchronous processing
\n
• Distributed systems
\n
• CI/CD
\n
• Docker
\n
• Cloud platforms
\n
• Cassandra or other NoSQL databases
\n
• Real-time data or industrial communication protocols
\n

Oil and gas experience is not required. Candidates from SaaS, FinTech, telecoms, IoT, industrial software or other complex backend environments are encouraged to apply.

Salary

• Mid-level: £40,000 to £55,000
\n
• Senior: £55,000 to £65,000
\n

Interview process

The process is expected to involve two remote technical interviews, each lasting approximately 60 to 90 minutes.
