Machine Learning Engineer Location: Newcastle (5 days onsite)Salary: £40,000£120,000 depending on experience Were supporting a rapidly growing defence technology consultancy as they continue to expand their engineering capability across AI, machine learning, and advanced software solutions.They are looking for Machine Learning & LLM Engineers from graduate level through to technical leadership to work on complex projects where cutting-edge technology is applied to real-world defence and national security challenges.This is an opportunity to work in a high-calibre engineering environment, solving technically challenging problems while helping shape the future of AI-enabled systems.What youll be working on: Developing and optimising machine learning models and AI systemsWorking with Large Language Models (LLMs) and transformer architecturesEvaluating model performance and improving inference efficiencyApplying machine learning techniques to complex datasetsExploring AI safety, explainability, and responsible AI practicesBuilding solutions for secure, constrained, or specialist environmentsWhat we're looking for: Strong understanding of machine learning fundamentalsKnowledge of LLM principles and transformer architecturesStrong mathematics and statistics foundationExperience with Python and ML frameworksUnderstanding of model evaluation and optimisation techniquesAbility to communicate complex technical concepts clearlyExperience with explainable AI, AI security, edge environments, or defence applications would be advantageous.What's in it for you?Opportunity to work across cutting edge technology within AIPrivate medical coverAnnual bonusInterested?
