Please ensure that this is completed in full in order that your application can be reviewed.We are looking for an experienced Platform Engineer to adopt into DevOps and Agile philosophies within the Microlise group. Your key responsibilities will be to implement, maintain and upgrade the Microlise Managed Service / Hosted Product and Infrastructure, providing essential skills and advice to other areas of the business.This is a broad role, where you will have the opportunity to work with Architects and Engineers within our 150 strong development team, whilst supporting the Platform Manager and wider Platform team!What will you be doing?Administering and maintaining critical information control systems supporting our managed and hosted servicesCollaborating with Development and wider business teams to ensure systems remain accurate, available and fit for purposeImplementing, configuring, maintaining and upgrading platform infrastructure and servicesDiagnosing, troubleshooting and resolving platform and service issuesComplete dry run testing prior to implementation work and ensure roll back functionalityWorking with third-party vendors and suppliers to ensure systems are performing optimallyFacilitating effective knowledge sharing between internal teams and external stakeholdersMaintaining platform documentation, reporting information and operational recordsDriving automation and continuous improvement initiatives across the platform estateWhat are we looking for?We're looking for someone with a passion for infrastructure, automation and modern platform engineering practices. You'll ideally have:Experience working within a DevOps, Platform Engineering or Infrastructure Engineering roleA background in software-focused organisations or working closely alongside development teamsA strong understanding of networking, IP addressing and enterprise IT environmentsExperience adopting a code-first approach and leveraging automation wherever possibleExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teamsWere looking for technical skills such as:Terraform, Ansible and other automation technologiesPowerShell and/or Bash scriptingObject-Oriented Programming (OOP) principlesCommand Line Interface (CLI) expertiseLinux and Windows Server administrationNetworking technologies including firewalls, load balancers and switching architectureDNS administration and configurationActive DirectoryHyper-V virtualisationEnterprise storage technologiesAzure DevOps and CI/CD pipelinesInfrastructure and system monitoring solutionsSolarWinds, Datadog, Grafana and ElasticSonarQubeDon't worry if you don't tick every box we're keen to hear from candidates who are eager to learn and develop!Why Microlise?When your groceries arrive at your door or you sign for your online parcel, one or more of our software, telematics or proof-of-purchase solutions has probably been used.
