JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Title: Operations ManagerEmployer: Goole Parochial Church CouncilReporting To: Priest-in-ChargeResponsible for: Church Administrator, Life Events Administrator and Life Events & Facilities AssistantHours: 21 hours per week , £16 per hour + pensionMain Purpose of The RoleThe Operations Manager will oversee the practical aspects of church life, ensuring safe, legally compliant, well planned and smooth operations of St Johns. This will be done inline with the vision of St Johns to be a Resourcing Church supporting the growth and flourishing not only of St Johns but of churches it is working in partnership with. .This is a post which is funded by a grant from the National Church currently up to the end of 2028. There will be further opportunity for us to review and extend the role if further funding is available with the current expectation that this could be until 2031. Regular reviews on this will take place. We have a strong record for applications and grants, but we are not in a position to give guarantees.Main Duties and Responsibilities:1. Buildings1.1. To work with the PCC to continue oversight of coherent management of the Church Estates.1.2. To line manage and enthuse staff and volunteers involved in the maintenance, cleaning and operation of the building.1.3. To work with the Diocesan Revitalisation Church Buildings Officer with developing a major works and maintenance plan drawing on the recommendations of the Quinquennial Report.1.4. To work closely with the Resourcing Church Buildings Officer to have oversight of any estates works and ensure all necessary paperwork and permissions are in place.1.5. To organise and oversee routine maintenance and repairs within approved budgets.1.6. To oversee good health & safety practice across the church buildings and mission area.1.7. To oversee 24-hour security and fire safety provision.2. Management of Office and Administration2.1. To provide day to day line management of the Church Administrator, Life Events Administrator and Life Events & Facilities Assistant, and volunteers as required, including staff development and the development of the team ethos.2.2. To oversee the existing administration service to support the mission of the Resourcing Church including finance, HR and IT functions.2.3. To manage the church office environment to ensure that the working environment and working practices are efficient, flexible and fully support the mission and values of St Johns Goole2.4. To maintain and continue to innovate new office systems, ensuring best use is made of electronic systems and databases.2.5. To oversee the use and management of the church programme and diary, continuing to develop protocols for their use and providing training where needed.2.6. To participate in the scheduling, planning and resourcing of major festivals (e.g. Christmas, Easter, Remembrance) and events (e.g. Heritage Days).3. Communications3.1. Where necessary, to liaise or correspond with external parties on behalf of St Johns or the Incumbent.3.2. To ensure that the website is updated regularly.3.3. To oversee the scheduling of notices and news to the church family through appropriate methods on a monthly, and weekly basis.3.4. To oversee the development of St Johns profile and activity via social media.3.5. To manage the promotion of St Johns events both internally and externally.3.6. To ensure consistency of branding, style, and messaging at St Johns Goole.4. Governance4.1. To advise the PCC and Committees in relation to governance, charity, HR and IT requirements.4.2. To ensure all necessary risk assessments are in place and updated regularly, to ensure compliance with insurance requirements.4.3. To maintain the mission area statutory documents such as the Health and Safety and Data Protection policies.4.4. To support PCC policy development processes.5. Finance and Fundraising5.1. To work closely with the Treasurer and Church Administrator in relation to the ongoing development of financial, budgetary and procurement systems.5.2.
