Job Description
Based in Fairfield House, Dalkeith, you will process invoices on the purchase ledger system, including those of a more complex nature, e.g. Construction Industry Tax deductions. You will help ensure the Council maintains VAT compliance, provide support to colleagues across the Council on supplier payments and respond to queries from suppliers. You will also support the administration of purchasing cards and undertake payment runs in the absence of the Payments Team Leader.
\nHybrid working is available although there is an expectation for this role that you will be in the office regularly.

\nKNOWLEDGE
Five credit passes at national 5/standard or o grade level, or equivalent, including English and Arithmetic.
\nAccuracy, numeracy and computer keyboard skills are essential to this post.
\nJobholders must have previous experience of working in Accounts Payable or similar office environment.
\nKnowledge of VAT and Construction Industry Tax is desirable.
\nPrevious experience of Purchase Ledger/Finance IT systems/applications is desirable.
\nKnowledge of Microsoft Office applications especially Microsoft Excel and Word are desirable, evidence of competency in these areas is an acceptable alternative.

\nBased on 15.6 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £12,649.68 per annum.
Responsibilities\nCompliance with the mandatory Cabinet Office PSN (Public Sector Network) Code of Connection requires the Council to meet a baseline personal security standard. This requires completion of a disclosure check for all employees who can access official information. The fee for this Disclosure check will be met by you.
\nPlease note that Disclosure Scotland has changed the way certificates are issued. You will be notified by email from Disclosure Scotland that your certificate is available to view. Once you have viewed your certificate you will be allowed to share this with your employer and it is only available for 14 days from the first day you have viewed the certificate. If you do not grant access to Midlothian Council to view before access is removed, a further application will need to be generated, and this will incur an additional cost.
