Commercial Litigation Lawyer
Job Description
Commercial Litigation 1-6 PQE
\n(Construction Litigation, Property Litigation & Insurance Litigation also Considered)
\nLeeds, Hull or Birmingham (Hybrid)
\nCompetitive Salary & Benefits
\nIf you’re a commercial litigator looking for top-quality work, a fantastic team culture, and the chance to be part of a business that’s shaking up how legal services are delivered, this is one worth exploring.
\nGreat Commercial Litigation Work. No Rainmaking Required.
\nThis isn’t your typical commercial litigation role. For a start, there’s no pressure to win new clients or bring in business - the work is already here and there’s a plentiful supply. You’ll have access to interesting, complex, and genuinely varied disputes across a wide range of sectors.
\nThe business’ unique model and use of technology means that your focus is entirely on the work; you don’t need to worry about bills being paid or where your next instructions are coming from.
\nThere are opportunities for development and progression that are very much in your hands and not restricted by a rigid structure.
\nYou’ll act for both claimants and defendants and, with support, will be hands-on from the start.
\nOpportunities to Specialise in Property Litigation or Construction Litigation Too
\nWhile a background in broad commercial litigation is ideal, we’re equally keen to hear from those with more focused experience in property litigation or construction disputes as there is sufficient work that lawyers in those specialisms could continue to specialise here. Some experience of insurance litigation would be the cherry on the cake but is not essential. There is also the ongoing opportunity to spearhead your own sector-specialist team.
\nA People-Centric Culture
\nYou’ll be joining a happy and respectful team that’s big enough to offer support but small enough to ensure you and your work are “seen”.
\nWho We’re Looking For
\nA commercial litigation, property litigation, insurance litigation or construction litigation lawyer with good, technical experience of advising on complex and/or varied matters for commercial clients would fit in really well here. The team is looking for someone who can show commercial acumen alongside considering the legal aspects of the case. You will need at least 1 year’s PQE.
\nHybrid Working – with Offices That Make It Worth The Commute
\nYou’ll only need to be in the office (Leeds, Hull or Birmingham) two days per week, and when you are, you’ll enjoy some of the best office and breakout space around.
\nTech-Forward and Human-Focused
\nThis is a business that builds its own legal tech - not for show, but to make things easier. From workflow automation to bespoke internal tools, the systems are constantly evolving to help you work smarter, not harder.
\nBe Part of Something Special That’s Growing
\nYou’ll be joining at a time of real momentum and there is a palpable sense of ambition and excitement. The business has grown rapidly in recent years and has great plans for the future - this is a perfect opportunity to get stuck in, develop your expertise, and grow with it.
\nAny references to PQE are provided purely as a guide and should not deter candidates with more or fewer years’ experience from applying. We welcome applications from individuals who can demonstrate the requisite skills and expertise for this role.
\nHaggerty Jaques is committed to promoting equality and diversity. We encourage applications from all qualified individuals, regardless of background.
