\nA leading Tier 1 infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to join their established commercial team in Cumbria. Operating across some of the UK's most complex and high-profile infrastructure programmes, this organisation delivers major projects within highly regulated environments, offering long-term career development, stability and the opportunity to work on nationally significant schemes. Based on a major programme of works, this role will see you playing a key part in driving commercial performance and supporting the successful delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects.
\nYour new role
\nAs Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will lead the day-to-day commercial function on a major infrastructure project, providing clear commercial leadership and ensuring strong governance, compliance and commercial performance across the scheme. You will work closely with senior project stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams to drive commercial excellence throughout the project lifecycle.
\nKey responsibilities will include:

- Leading all aspects of project commercial management and contract administration \n
- Providing commercial insight and recommendations to support strategic decision-making \n
- Managing and developing a commercial team, including mentoring and performance management \n
- Owning commercial reporting including CVRs, forecasting, margin reporting and project KPIs \n
- Leading the preparation of applications for payment and client-facing commercial reports \n
- Managing contractual issues and acting as the escalation point for commercial matters \n
- Supporting procurement strategy and subcontract package development \n
- Identifying and mitigating commercial risks whilst maximising opportunities \n
- Driving project performance across cost, cash flow, margin and risk management \n
- Working collaboratively with operational, technical and procurement teams to achieve project objectives \n
What you'll need to succeed
\nTo be successful in this role, you will have:
\n- \n
- Additional security and compliance requirements to be done online \n
- Significant experience leading commercial teams on major construction or infrastructure projects valued at £100m+ \n
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC3 and/or NEC4) \n
- Proven ability to develop and implement commercial and procurement strategies \n
- Excellent commercial acumen across cost control, forecasting, reporting and governance \n
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including presenting at senior level \n
- Experience managing and developing commercial professionals \n
Desirable:
\n- \n
- Experience within regulated sectors such as nuclear, rail, utilities, defence or major infrastructure \n
- Chartered status with RICS, CIOB or equivalent, or working towards professional accreditation \n
