Class 1 Registered Building Inspector

Based in London, hybrid working

Length: 6 months initially

To undertake building control inspections and associated duties in accordance with the Building Safety Act 2022, Building Regulations, and relevant legislation. The postholder will assess building work, carry out site inspections, provide professional advice to customers and stakeholders, and support the local authority in delivering a compliant, efficient, and customer-focused Building Control service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out site inspections on domestic and low-risk building projects within the scope of Class 1 Registered Building Inspector registration
\n
• Assess Building Regulation applications, plans, specifications, and supporting documentation for compliance with current legislation
\n
• Maintain accurate inspection records and prepare reports, correspondence, and enforcement documentation where required
\n
• Identify non-compliant work and recommend appropriate corrective action
\n
• Liaise effectively with planning, environmental health, fire authorities, and other statutory consultees
\n
• Deliver a high standard of customer service while ensuring regulatory compliance
\n

Key Requirements:

Essential

\n
• Registered as a Class 1 Registered Building Inspector (RBI) with the Building Safety Regulator
\n
• Experience carrying out Building Control inspections within a local authority or approved inspector environment
\n
• Good knowledge of the Building Regulations, Building Safety Act 2022, and associated legislation
\n

Desirable

\n
• Membership of CABE, RICS, CIOB, or equivalent professional body
\n
• Experience using Uniform, IDOX, or other Building Control management systems
\n
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
