Mechanical Service Technician / Mechanical Fitter Location: Swadlincote, Derbyshire Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am 4:30pm Salary: £30,000£48,000+ DOE + Overtime Job Type: Minimum 6 month contract (Discussion after) Our client is a well-established engineering company specialising in the maintenance, refurbishment and servicing of industrial equipment.Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Service Technician / Mechanical Fitter to join their engineering team based in Swadlincote . The Role As a Mechanical Service Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, repairing and rebuilding specialist industrial processing machinery to OEM standards. Key Responsibilities Inspect, diagnose and repair industrial processing equipment.Dismantle, inspect and rebuild machinery to OEM specifications.Replace bearings, shafts, seals and rotating components.Carry out precision alignment and mechanical assembly.Diagnose mechanical failures, structural fatigue and component wear.Produce detailed inspection reports and technical documentation.Assist with installation and commissioning of refurbished equipment.Maintain high standards of health and safety whilst working in the workshop and on customer sites.Applicants should have experience working on industrial processing equipment, ideally including: Vibratory Equipment Vibratory screensVibratory feedersExciter unitsEccentric drive systemsMagnetic Separation Equipment Eddy Current Separators (ECS)Permanent and Electromagnetic Overband MagnetsMagnetic Head PulleysMagnetic Drum SeparatorsSuspension MagnetsMechanical Skills You should have experience with: Bearing replacementMechanical rebuildsShaft alignmentSetting critical tolerancesRotor balancingPrecision mechanical assemblyApplicants should be confident using precision measuring equipment, including: MicrometersDial indicatorsVernier calipersPrecision measuring equipmentYou'll be able to: Measure wear against OEM tolerancesIdentify bearing failures, fatigue cracking and corrosionDiagnose component failuresRecommend appropriate repair methodsTechnical ReportingThe successful candidate will be able to produce accurate: Inspection reportsCondition assessmentsFailure analysis reportsRepair recommendationsCosted refurbishment reportsEssential Qualifications Level 3 NVQ, City & Guilds or BTEC in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)CSCS Card, CCNSG Safety Passport or equivalentFull UK Driving LicenceDesirable Qualifications 18th Edition Wiring Regulations or equivalentExperience testing electromagnetic coilsGauss testing of magnetic equipmentNon-Destructive Testing (DPI or similar)Forklift, MEWP or Overhead Crane certificationSalary: £30,000£48,000+ depending on experience.
