We are seeking enthusiastic areliable Cover Supervisors and Cover Teachers to join a secondary Academy in Hackney from September. This is a fantastic opportunity for qualified teachers, aspiring teachers, graduates, and experienced education professionals looking to make a positive impact in a vibrant school community.

The successful candidates will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning by supervising classes and delivering pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects during staff absences.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Supervise classes across a variety of subject areas, ensuring students remain engaged and focused on their learning.
  • \n
  • Deliver pre-planned lessons and learning activities in line with academy expectations.
  • \n
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively and promote a positive learning environment.
  • \n
  • Support students in completing classwork and meeting lesson objectives.
  • \n
  • Take registers and ensure attendance records are accurately maintained.
  • \n
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding student progress, engagement, and behaviour.
  • \n
  • Follow academy policies and procedures, including safeguarding and behaviour management.
  • \n
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the school day and support students' academic achievement.
  • \n

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working with secondary-aged students in a school or educational setting.
  • \n
  • Strong classroom management skills and confidence leading groups of young people.
  • \n
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • \n
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • \n
  • A flexible, proactive, and professional approach to work.
  • \n
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to adapt to different subjects and year groups.
  • \n
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • \n
  • For Cover Teacher positions, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification is desirable.
  • \n
  • For Cover Supervisor positions, a degree or relevant experience working with young people is advantageous.
  • \n
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • \n
