Location: Crawley, West Sussex
\nSalary:£21,731 - £24,195.50 per annum + Up to £2,500 Annual Performance Bonus
\nContract: Full Time | Permanent | Term Time Only
\nWorking Hours: Monday - Friday | 8:30am - 3:30pm (Direct learner contact: 9:00am - 2:30pm)
\nStart Date: September 2026 (with the opportunity to start sooner by supporting learners within the Hospitality provision)

\nThis is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing specialist provision supporting learners from KS3-KS5 with SEMH, ADHD, emotional and behavioural needs, and those who have experienced trauma.
\nThrough practical, hands-on vocational learning, you'll help learners rebuild confidence, re-engage with education and develop the skills they need to succeed in further education and employment.
The Role\nAs a Learning Mentor, you will:
\n- \n
- Build positive, trusting relationships with learners. \n
- Deliver engaging vocational learning on a 1:1 basis and in small groups of up to 8 learners. \n
- Support learners with SEMH, ADHD, SEND and additional behavioural needs. \n
- Use effective de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour management strategies. \n
- Create a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment. \n
- Promote confidence, resilience, independence and positive engagement. \n
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals to achieve positive learner outcomes. \n
This role would particularly suit candidates with experience as a:

- Learning and Behaviour Mentor \n
- Sports Coach \n
- Youth Worker \n
- Mechanic or Engineer \n
- Cadet or Forces \n
- Vocational Instructor \n
- Alternative Provision Practitioner \n
To be successful, you'll have:
\n- \n
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. \n
- Experience supporting children and young people. \n
- Experience working with learners with SEMH, ADHD, SEND or challenging behaviour. \n
- Strong de-escalation and behaviour management skills. \n
- A trauma-informed, nurturing and relationship-led approach. \n
- A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential. \n
Experience within mechanics, engineering or vocational learning is advantageous but not essential. We are looking for resilient, compassionate individuals with the right attitude and commitment to making a lasting difference.
