Mechanical Engineer

Astute's Power Team are recruiting a Mechanical Engineer for an Energy from Waste plant located in Belfast.This role within the maintenance department is focusing the management, supervision and coordination of the Mechanical Maintenance Team to deliver maximum plant availability, reliability and performance.If you have the relevant experience (please see below) and are looking for a rewarding role in the Power sector, then please apply.Responsibilities and duties:As the Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for:Implement and promote Health, Safety and Environmental policies, ensuring compliance with site procedures and Safety Rules.Develop, optimise and manage the CMMS (Maximo), driving work order backlog reduction and prioritising statutory and process safety tasks.Lead the planning, supervision and coordination of maintenance activities to maximise plant availability, reliability and performance.Develop and implement maintenance strategies, procedures and best practices to improve asset performance.Manage troubleshooting, planned, reactive and major maintenance across mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.Ensure high-quality maintenance standards through effective supervision of in-house teams and contractors.Lead root cause investigations and promote a 'first-time-fix' approach to maintenance.Provide technical support to Operations and foster strong collaboration across site departments.Build and maintain effective relationships with contractors, driving high standards of quality, safety and housekeeping.Manage site modifications, improvement projects, and support outage planning and delivery.Professional qualificationsWe are looking for someone with the following:Apprentice qualified with a relevant Mechanical Engineering qualificationIdeally HNC / HND / ONC in Mechanical Engineering or similarIt would be advantageous to have an IOSHPersonal skillsThe Mechanical Engineer role would suit someone with:Knowledge of PSSR (pressure Systems Safety Regulations) and LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations)Extensive leadership & supervisory experienceUnderstanding of P&IDs and mechanical drawings, able to read hydraulic, pneumatic and isometric diagramsFamiliarity with MAXIMO or similar Computerised Maintenance Management SystemSalary and benefits of the Mechanical Engineer roleCompetitive basic salaryBenefits packageINDPOW#LI-DG1Astute People are acting as an employment agency in relation to this vacancy.
