Head of Quality and Safety

Contract: 6–9 Months FTC

Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week

Working Pattern: Hybrid – 3 days onsite, 2 days remote

We are supporting an NHS organisation seeking Band 8c Head of Quality and Safety. This is an excellent opportunity to provide interim leadership to our high-performing Quality and Safety Team during a key period of transition.

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior quality, governance or patient safety professional to lead a diverse portfolio covering risk management, patient safety, health and safety, clinical audit, and regulatory compliance, ensuring the Trust continues to deliver the highest standards of quality and safety across its services.

• Provide leadership and management to an experienced Quality and Safety Team, maintaining high standards of performance and delivery
\n
• Oversee the effective management of risks, incidents, audits, and compliance activities in line with Trust standards
\n
• Lead the delivery of the Trust's Quality Priorities and Quality Account for 2026/27
\n
• Support and coordinate the Quality and Safety Committee, ensuring robust governance and reporting arrangements
\n
• Contribute to and provide expert support for key committees, including Clinical Governance, Risk and Safety, and other corporate governance forums
\n
• Lead preparations for external regulatory inspections and visits, including CQC reviews
\n
• Provide expert advice and assurance on patient safety, risk management, governance, and compliance matters
\n
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen quality and safety across the organisation
\n

We are looking for a confident and credible leader with:

\n
• Significant senior-level experience within NHS quality, governance, risk, patient safety, or clinical governance functions
\n
• Experience of working in a CQC regulated environment
\n
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering high-performance outcomes
\n
• Strong knowledge of NHS quality frameworks, risk management, patient safety, and regulatory requirements
\n
• Experience supporting Board and Committee governance processes
\n
• A successful track record of leading organisational quality improvement initiatives
\n
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing skills
\n
• Experience preparing organisations for external inspections and regulatory reviews
