Role: Stores Person / Forklift OperatorLocation: Lewes, East SussexHours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 5:00pm (47.5 hours per week)Pay: £31,600 - £32,300 per annum (£12.80 - £13.10 per hour, depending on experience)Contract: 12-week temporary to permanentAn excellent opportunity has arisen for a Stores Person / Forklift Operator to join one of our longstanding clients, a growing and well-established scrap yard and recycling business based in Lewes.This is a hands-on role supporting the smooth running of the stores function, ensuring engineers and yard staff have the parts, materials and equipment they need to keep operations running safely and efficiently.Benefits

The Requirements

  • Previous experience within a stores, warehouse, yard or parts environment
  • \n
  • Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail
  • \n
  • Comfortable using computers or tablets for data entry and maintenance systems
  • \n
  • Physically fit and comfortable undertaking manual handling duties
  • \n
  • Able to work within a heavy industrial or scrap yard environment
  • \n
  • Reliable, proactive and safety conscious approach to work
  • \n

Desirable:

  • Experience within a scrap yard, recycling, engineering or industrial environment
  • \n
  • Valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence
  • \n
  • Familiarity with maintenance parts including bearings, motors, hydraulics, filters and fixings
  • \n
\n

The Role

\n
    \n
  • Receive, check and book in deliveries of parts, consumables, PPE and materials
  • \n
  • Organise and maintain stock within the stores area
  • \n
  • Issue parts and materials to engineers and yard staff whilst maintaining accurate records
  • \n
  • Monitor stock levels and identify reordering requirements
  • \n
  • Carry out regular stock checks and support annual stocktakes
  • \n
  • Prepare parts for planned maintenance work and breakdown repairs
  • \n
  • Organise reusable parts and identify serviceable and scrap materials
  • \n
  • Assist with loading and unloading deliveries using a forklift or pallet truck where trained
  • \n
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised stores environment
  • \n
  • Follow all health and safety procedures, including COSHH requirements and PPE guidelines
  • \n
