Job Description
Step into a rewarding part-time opportunity providing vital Occupational Therapy services to students in grades 7-12 in the Detroit, MI area. This contract role offers the flexibility of working one day per week in a year-round school setting, beginning August 13th. You’ll support students across four campuses, including a unique experience working with youth in a secure treatment facility for juvenile males. With only six students currently on your caseload—and four who require consult-only services—this position is perfect for an OT who enjoys making a focused, meaningful impact.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Occupational Therapy licensure for the state of Michigan
- Experience within educational environments, including school-based OT
- Ability to work with adolescent populations, ages 13-18
- Previous exposure to home health or healthcare OT settings a plus
- Comfort working in secure or specialized facilities (helpful, not required)
- Strong communication and documentation skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver on-site direct OT services to students as scheduled, one day per week
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to integrate therapy into educational plans
- Provide consultative services, supporting student success in the classroom
- Develop and implement individualized therapy plans
- Maintain accurate progress notes and IEP documentation, with the flexibility to complete paperwork from home
- Adapt therapeutic approaches based on students’ diverse and evolving needs
- Travel between schools as needed within the district
