Job Responsibilities and Qualifications

The Acute Care Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering exceptional, patient-focused care. Working alongside medical professionals, the RN provides both pre-operative and post-operative nursing support, acting as a patient advocate to ensure an outstanding patient experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patient conditions upon admission and throughout each shift, noting and reporting any changes in status.
  • Carry out procedures or tasks as directed by the medical provider.
  • Accurately document care provided in the patient's medical record in a timely manner.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor patient responses.
  • Stay informed about medications, procedures, and equipment relevant to the care of cardiac and medical-surgical patients.
Qualifications Required:
  • Experience: Minimum of one year as a registered nurse.
  • Preferred Experience: Experience in a hospital or critical care setting.
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or enrollment in a BSN or advanced degree program, with a commitment to obtain a BSN within five years of starting the RN role. Grandfathering may be accepted between departments and entities. Exemptions or extensions may be granted by the facility's Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and reported to the CNO Council. Facilities will track exemptions as necessary. RNs with ten or more years of experience are exempt.
  • Preferred Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Licensure: Must possess and maintain current RN licensure with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. eNLC (Enhanced Nurse License Compact) license may apply; licensees should verify with NCBON.
  • Certifications: BLS and ACLS certifications are required.

We provide a variety of medical specialties, including emergency services, prenatal and postnatal obstetric care, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, nuclear medicine, and walk-in non-emergency care at our facility.
