Trial Paralegal
Job Description
Our firm is a premier personal injury law firm based in San Diego, serving clients throughout California and the United States. The firm's practice is focused on sexual assault and institutional childhood sexual abuse cases. With more than 70 years of combined legal experience, the team is dedicated to delivering compassionate, high-quality representation to individuals and families facing life-altering events.
The Trial Paralegal is a full-time, on-site role based in San Diego, CA. The trial paralegal will support attorneys through all phases of litigation. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assist in drafting and reviewing, responsive pleadings, various discovery documents, subpoenas, legal memoranda and correspondence.
Assist with discovery, particularly electronic discovery, and the organization, case management, collection, review and production of documents.
Organize and prepare documents, exhibits, and other materials for use in discovery, hearings or trials, including deposition cuts.
Help attorneys prepare for and conduct focus groups.
Assist in preparing various motions and ensuring that filings are accurate, properly formatted and filed in a timely manner.
Correspond and communicate with vendors.
Document review.
Manage multiple projects and prioritize work for several different attorneys.
Mentor and train legal assistants and junior paralegals in the office. This includes training on legal procedures, as well as litigation support software.
Qualifications
This role is ideal for someone who has hands-on trial preparation experience, someone who thrives under pressure, and enjoys taking initiative
Minimum 2+ years of experience as a trial paralegal
Experience supporting complex civil litigation matters
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Proficiency in drafting pleadings, discovery requests, motions, and trial materials.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with attorneys, clients, experts, and court staff.
Attention to detail, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and proper formatting of case materials.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with legal case management software and standard office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PDF tools). Proficiency with Smart Advocate, OnCue, and Everlaw are a plus.
Compensation: $85,000-130,000 depending on experience
