Job Description: Dry Cleaner Counter Person

Position Overview

We are looking for a friendly, organized, and reliable Counter Person to join our team at our busy dry cleaning store. As the face of our business, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, managing daily front-of-house operations, and ensuring accurate processing of customer orders from drop-off to pick-up.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service:

Greet all customers warmly and efficiently as they enter the store.

Answer incoming phone inquiries regarding pricing, store hours, garment care, and order status.

Resolve customer questions or concerns with patience and professionalism.

Order Intake & Processing:

Inspect incoming garments for damage, stains, or special care instructions in the presence of the customer.

Accurately tag garments, identify specific items, and enter orders into the point-of-sale (POS) system.

Issue itemized tickets and collect payments securely (cash, credit, or account billing).

Order Assembly & Retrieval:

Organize and maintain clean racks of finished, cleaned garments.

Quickly locate and retrieve customer orders at pick-up.

Perform a final quality check to ensure all requested services (e.g., alterations, starch levels, stain treatments) have been completed.

Store Maintenance:

Keep the front counter, waiting area, and display windows neat, clean, and organized throughout the shift.

Restock packaging materials, hangers, and other front-end supplies as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

Experience: Previous customer service, retail, or hospitality experience is strongly preferred. Experience in the garment or dry cleaning industry is a major plus.

Communication: Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Organization: Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Technical Skills: Comfortable operating a computerized point-of-sale (POS) system and handling cash transactions accurately.

Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods, occasionally lift garment bags or bundles weighing up to 25 lbs, and perform repetitive hand and arm movements.

Work Schedule & Details

Type: Full-time

Hours: Monday-Friday 9am to 6 pm

Compensation: Competitive hourly wage, commensurate with experience.

Salary/Compensation: $18.00 - $18.00 per hour
