The Mortgage Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end mortgage lending process, ensuring loans are processed efficiently, comply with regulatory requirements, and align with organizational standards. This role leads a team of Mortgage Lenders and Processors while managing complex loan scenarios and high-level member relationships.
ResponsibilitiesOversee daily operations of the mortgage department and assigned teams.
Lead, coach, and develop Mortgage Lenders and Processing staff to achieve performance goals.
Review and approve mortgage loan applications within delegated authority.
Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and company lending regulations, including underwriting standards.
Monitor loan pipeline, productivity, and key performance metrics.
Resolve escalated client issues and manage complex loan situations.
Build and maintain relationships with real estate agents, brokers, and strategic partners.
Analyze financial data, credit reports, and risk factors to support sound lending decisions.
Collaborate with Mortgage Sales, Underwriting, and Learning & Development teams to manage training programs and documentation.
Ensure adherence to all NCUA laws, rules, regulations, and internal policies to mitigate risk and uphold ethical standards.
Prepare and present performance reports and trend analysis to senior management.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in mortgage lending or banking.
At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience.
Strong knowledge of underwriting guidelines and loan products, including FHA, VA, and Conventional loans.
Solid understanding of lending laws, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
Must have recent mortgage lending experience, preferably within a Credit Union or banking environment.
Strong leadership experience managing Mortgage Lenders and Processors.
Hands-on experience reviewing and approving mortgage loans.
Strong knowledge of FHA, VA, and Conventional mortgage products.
Experience with underwriting guidelines, regulatory compliance, and NCUA requirements.
Comfortable managing complex loan scenarios while building relationships with members, real estate agents, and business partners.
