Job Description
Step into an exciting contract role as a General Education Math Teacher, supporting high school students in the New Orleans area for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a full-time opportunity, offering 35 hours per week aligned with the school calendar (Monday through Friday, 7 hours daily with an unpaid 30-minute lunch). The specific school assignment and caseload will be determined closer to the start date, with all students in the high school age group.
Qualifications:
- Must hold an active Louisiana Department of Education teaching certificate (temporary or in-process certifications will not be considered)
- Proven experience teaching high school mathematics within a general education setting
- Strong classroom management skills and dedication to fostering a positive, productive learning environment
- Ability to adapt instruction and communicate effectively with a diverse student body
- Successful completion of both fingerprinting and drug screening per district requirements prior to start
Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive math instruction aligned with state and district standards
- Create engaging lesson plans to meet the needs of high school learners
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and support
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and support staff to enhance student success
