Physical Therapist - School Setting in Oakland, CA
Job Description
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting elementary students as a Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant in a dynamic school setting near Oakland, CA. This full-time assignment begins August 18th and runs through June 6th, following a traditional Monday-Friday schedule with 30+ hours each week. You'll play an essential role in helping students achieve mobility goals that support their academic and daily success. Compensation reflects your expertise, ranging from $55-68 per hour.
Key Qualifications:
- Active licensure as a Physical Therapist (PT) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in California
- Previous experience working in educational or pediatric settings strongly preferred
- Proficiency in evaluating, developing, and implementing therapy plans tailored to elementary-age children
- Strong communication skills for collaborating closely with teachers, families, and other professionals
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of students’ motor and functional abilities within the school environment
- Develop individualized treatment plans and set achievable therapy goals
- Provide direct physical therapy services in both individual and group settings
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, updating records regularly
- Consult with educators and families to integrate therapy recommendations into classroom routines
- Attend team meetings and participate in developing IEPs as needed
