Title: Remote Paralegal

Location: Remote (but must sit in austin, tx area just in case they are needed in office)

Duration: 9 month contract to hire


Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and professional Paralegal to join our growing team. Our ideal candidate must be able to make smart decisions, multi-task, handle a good amount of client case files, and possess stellar communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft letters and court documents
  • Research and draft motions and other court documents
  • Prepare discovery and responses to discovery demands
  • Assist attorneys with preparing cases for hearings
  • Communicate with clients with updates and gathering information
  • Interact with the courts and administrative agencies regarding hearings, motions, and other appearances, become the courts’ primary point of contact with the Firm for all administrative and scheduling issues
  • Organize electronic client case files
  • Docket (scheduling and/or calendaring) events
  • Maintain billable hours spent on specific cases

Requirements:

  • Paralegal with 2 to 4 years’ experience, minimum of 2 years in litigation.
  • Paralegal certification a plus.
  • Experience with maintaining billable hour requirements a plus.
  • Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters.
  • Able to speak with people in a manner that is professional, mature, compassionate, polite, educated, and puts clients at ease.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent researcher and writer.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.
  • Detail-oriented and willing to go the extra mile to get the job done right the first time.
  • Proficient in case management systems and office systems/software required, experience using Clio
  • Manage, Clio Grow, One-Drive, and Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.
