Family Medicine Core Residency Faculty Opportunity

Our organization is excited to present a fantastic full-time opportunity for a Family Medicine Core Residency Faculty position based in Fresno, California.

The selected candidate will take on the role of a core faculty member, actively participating in both the outpatient continuity clinic and the inpatient newborn nursery. This position is essential for the holistic education of Family Medicine residents and medical students. It encompasses direct clinical instruction, scholarly involvement, and significant contributions to the governance and advancement of the residency program. The individual will be responsible for managing their own continuity patient panel while providing ongoing supervision in both outpatient and inpatient environments. They will also engage in didactic teaching during resident half-day educational sessions and partake in structured academic initiatives that foster resident growth and program excellence.

Key responsibilities include:

• Teaching in the outpatient continuity clinic and urgent care alongside residents and medical students, Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00
• Maintaining a personal panel of continuity patients
• Supervising inpatient teaching rounds in the newborn nursery on a rotating schedule every 4-5 weeks, Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 19:00
• Participating in educational didactic half-days on Wednesdays from 13:00 to 17:00
• Providing remote faculty supervision for residents during after-hours clinic calls
• Engaging in the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC), which evaluates resident progress and advancement
• Contributing to the Program Evaluation Committee (PEC), which focuses on curriculum development and program enhancement
• Completing both written and verbal evaluations for residents and medical students
• Supervising residents on the mobile health unit
• Participating in scholarly activities, including research, case reports, publications, and quality improvement projects in collaboration with residents and/or medical students

The candidate must qualify for hospital credentialing to provide inpatient newborn care. While inpatient obstetrics coverage is not mandatory, there may be opportunities for occasional coverage of the adult inpatient teaching service if desired. In such instances, the candidate must also be eligible for privileges in adult inpatient medicine.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree, with successful completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited Family Medicine residency program, and possession of an unrestricted medical license from the Medical Board of California
• Proven experience in comprehensive outpatient care for adults, geriatrics, children, and newborns, with recent and significant involvement in teaching residents and/or medical students
• Clinical experience in managing both adult and newborn patients in an inpatient setting
• Current board certification in Family Medicine from the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM)
• Eligibility for privileges in full-spectrum outpatient primary care, as well as inpatient privileges for newborn care. If interested in adult inpatient care, the candidate must be eligible to obtain hospital privileges for adult inpatient medicine.
• Inpatient obstetrics is not a requirement.
• Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
